Its not that his artistic output spanning three decades, numerous albums, books of poetry and collections of drawings simply eludes classification, it defies it. Often we hear that a true work of art is meant to speak for itself, and with the work of Daniel Hi. He's definitely on another. Daniel Higgs is deep. He's definitely on another level. Is he a brilliant artist Maybe, but for most conscious earthbound people who aren't completely at one with the cosmos, the music on Atomic Yggdrasil Tarot sounds like what it is - a singular distorted instrument guitar, toy piano, jew's harp noodling around spastically into a cheap portable cassette recorder. Higgs only opens his mouth to breath, but Atomic Yggdrasil isn't without lyrics. Fittingly, Higgs connects half a dozen songs to a gorgeous 48-page hardcover book depicting a series of his totemic paintings and acrostics- which delineate themes he's intoned about in the past- including a climactic centerfold with two facing emblems after which the order of artword shifts.
