The official music video for Private Universe by Crowded House. From the album Together Alone. Video directed and produced by Kerry Brown and House is the debut album by the band Crowded House. It was released in 1986 and produced by Mitchell Froom. The album includes the hit singles Don't Dream It's Over, Something So Strong, Mean to Me, World Where You Live and Now We're Getting Somewhere. Following the breakup of Split Enz in 1984, Neil Finn and drummer Paul Hester decided to form a new band. Bass player Nick Seymour approached Finn during the after party for the Melbourne show of the Split Enz farewell tour and asked. Private Universe is a song from the album Together Alone and released as the sixth and final single from it in October 1994. Despite underperforming on the charts, it was a fan favourite, being released on the compilation Recurring Dream and performed at the Farewell to the World concert. Private Universe most accurately depicts the spiritual commune with nature and the isolation the band experienced while recording the Together Alone album on the remote island of Kare Kare.
