America is the debut studio album by America, released in 1971. It was initially released without A Horse with No Name, which was released as a single in late 1971. When A Horse with No Name became a worldwide hit in early 1972, the album was re-released with that track. The album went to No. 1 on the Billboard album chart in the United States and stayed there for five weeks. It produced two hit singles A Horse with No Name spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard singles chart in 1972. Conor Oberst released the self-titled album Conor Oberst, which was recorded in Tepoztlán, Morelos, Mexico, with Taylor Hollingsworth on guitar and Macey Taylor on bass, on August 5, 2008, on Merge Records. In about mid-October, the band sold a new EP, Gentleman's Pact. It was limited to 1000 copies and was only available on tour. Throughout the end of 2012 and the beginning of 2013, Oberst embarked on a solo tour of North America and Europe performing with Ben Brodin on guitar and vibraphone. On the tour, he played songs from Bright Eyes, Mystic Valley Band, and Monsters of Folk as well as playing new songs. America was changing rapidly in the 1960s, and rights movements were at the forefront of those changes. Crash Lyrics: Would you mind if I still loved you, Would you mind if things don't last, Would you mind if I hold onto, You so that I won't crash, Morning light, I'm at your door, One. Would you mind if I hold onto You so that I won't crash Morning light, I'm at your door One last time, and no one's there I drove all night, just to beat you home Would you mind if I waited Would you mind if I wait right I really, really, wanna love you And I'm really, really only yours And even if it don't last forever, I wanna let you know We really had something special It's hard tryna let it go I'm just being honest, I'm still in the moment. Would you mind if I still loved you . America's debut album is a folk-pop classic, a stellar collection of memorable songs that would prove influential on such acts as the Eagles and Dan Fogelberg. Crosby, Stills & Nash are the group's obvious stylistic touchstone here, especially in the vocal harmonies used compare the thick chordal singing of Sandman and Children to CS&N's You Don't Have to Cry and Guinevere and the prominent use of active strummed acoustic guitar arrangements contrast Riverside to CS&N's Suite: Judy Blue Ey. Other highlights include the buoyantly charming Three Roses, the yearningly lovely Rainy Day, and the quietly ringing Clarice.
