But if Broadcasting. is any indication, Comeback Kid hardly missed a step given frontman Scott Wade's departure in 2006, which was prior to the recording of this, their third album. It's not to say that the band wasn't upset when Wade bowed out, but their recovery was swift, and Broadcasting. is a testament to how strong a unit Comeback Kid has always been. The guys didn't even need to look outside of their ranks to fill in the gap, guitarist Andrew Neufeld easily stepping up to the task at hand. Comeback Kid is a Canadian hardcore punk band from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Their name comes from a headline in a newspaper about hockey player Mario Lemieux coming back to the NHL. The band was formed in 2000 by Andrew Neufeld and Jeremy Hiebert who were both members of the band Figure Four, which is currently on hiatus. They were joined by their friends Scott Wade and Kyle Profeta, but CBK was originally intended only to be a side project. However, when Comeback Kid lost vocalist Scott Wade after their second album Wake the Dead they decided not to call it a day. This is one case where it would have been wrong to end the band or at least change the name. After all, previous albums show that CBK already have three more than competent vocalists amongst their ranks. What attracts many to Comeback Kid are their excellent, powerful gang vocals. When these are featured in their songs they greatly improve them, and also they are a feature of their music that makes the band immediately identifiable. It is one of their trademarks, so to speak.
