What a fun, diverse album! It's not breakbeat like Fatboy Slim or Chemical Brothers used to do it (back when Big Beat was the thing), but rather it's an exercise in sample-mashing that alternates between serious melodies and humerous sound bytes.

Moods range from playful ('More Beats + Pieces,' 'Noah's Toilet') to sublime ('Rubaiyat,' 'Music 4 No Musicians'), keeping the listener interested throughout. If there's one problem it's that most of the pieces lack of clear hooks, but there's so much going on in each track that you never get bored, and pieces like 'Timber' stand out for what hooks they do have.

That said, tracks like 'Every Home A Prison' and 'I'm Wild About That Thing' are only interesting the first time around; after you've heard them once, they're too long-winded to warrant replays unless you're going to spin them for a friend.

But overall I was pleasantly surprised by this release. The album's tagline "Fuck dance, let's art" couldn't be more apt.
