Though this is Chicks on Speed's first album as a duo - Kiki Moorse left the band shortly after the release of Press the Spacebar for a solo career - not much else changed in their world art, sex, dancing, and fashion are still their obsessions. Chicks on Speed is a feminist music and fine art ensemble, formed in Munich in 1997, when members Australian Alex Murray-Leslie and American Melissa Logan met at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. Though Chicks on Speed reached cult status throughout the 2000s as catalysts of the musical genre electroclash, Chicks on Speed were actually founded as a multidisciplinary art group working in performance art, electronic dance music, collage graphics, textile design and fashion. Chicks On Speed, for the uninitiated, are an international artmusicclothingfilm experience who are based in Berlin. On this, their fifth album, they've gone all wonky double album on us, and in the process probably released their masterpiece. Cutting The Edge is a 24 track feast of what makes the Chicks so unique, and is more in line with earlier albums such as 2000's Chicks On Speed Will Save Us All and 2003's 99Cents, as opposed to the more challenging areas of their output such as their 2004 collaboration with the No Heads.
