The L-Shaped Man: The Demo Recordings - Ceremony. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. The L-Shaped Man is the fifth album by American punk rock band Ceremony. Produced by Drive Like Jehu guitarist John Reis, the album was released on May 19, 2015 through Matador Records. It marks as a further shift to a Joy Division-influenced post-punk sound that was introduced on band's preceding album, Zoo 2012. Lyrically, the album deals with vocalist Ross Farrar's recent break-up. A music video featuring tracks The Separation and The Understanding was released on March 26, 2015. All that heartbreak and malaise condensed into any single record often makes for a defining piece of work, no matter the genre. The former powerviolence group Ceremony's new album, their second for Matador, finds them wanting to sound like Joy Division, and its interesting in the way that any true debacle is interesting. The L-Shaped Man does have an advantage over Zoo, in that its interesting in the way any true debacle is, where a bands conviction is either impervious to any kind of outside intervention or just not subject to it. Just look at the album cover: almost immediately after Ceremony revealed The L-Shaped Man, fans noticed its too-hilarious-to-be-intentional similarity to a gag from the A Millhouse Divided episode of The Simpsons. L-Shaped Man cements their transformation from hardcore heroes to something else entirely with a newfound focus on careful song structure and atmospheric production. The dour, reverberating sounds of Joy Division immediately come to mind as Ceremony switch from the thrashing full-guitar chords of their earlier work to punctuated, single-string leads, leaving plenty of sonic space for frontman Ross Farrar's vocals, which are far more present and commanding than ever before. Ceremony USA-CA - The L-Shaped Man review: Ceremony set aside their life of powerviolence and try their hand at post-punk. This is a break up album, more specifically, vocalist Ross Farrars break up album. Farrar is at his best lyric-wise when he is his most honest, with himself and others
