Live at the Palladium is the second live album by the American popular music duo Carpenters. It was recorded during a week of live concerts at the London Palladium in November 1976. No singles were released from the album, although it reached number 28 on the UK Albums Chart. On the cover of the record, Karen is wearing the same dress as in The Carpenters' Very First Television Special. The album was remastered and reissued in the 1980s on the budget Pickwick music label and went Gold in the UK. Live at the Palladium. This album was not released in the U. but was widely available as an import. The other live album is the 2-disk Live in Japan 1974 A&M release. This is a delightful album and makes me wish I had seen the Carpenters perform live They sing various long medleys of the songs from their career, with narration between by both Karen and Richard. This album features some of Karen Carpenter's finest live performances, although they comprise only around 27 minutes of the 44 minute long album. Her performances were outstanding very technically accomplished and refined, but she is more generally famed for the extraordinary beauty of her voice which is very evident on these renditions. Live At The Palladium by the Carpenters, which was only released in the UK and Japan, made its British chart debut on 8 January 1977. On 8 January 1977, the album made its debut on the British charts. Three years earlier, the Carpenters had performed at the Festival Hall in Osaka, a performance captured on Live In Japan, an even greater rarity in their catalogue as it was only issued in that country, in 1975. Theres never been an official live album by the duo issued in the US. Live At The Palladium contained a 15-minute medley of their hits, in a show featuring their A-list band including guitarist Tony Peluso, who was on hand to reprise his famous solo on Goodbye To Love.
