Moonmadness is the fourth studio album by English progressive rock band Camel. It was released in March 1976 on Decca and Gama Records and is their last album recorded by the group's original line-up of Andrew Latimer, Peter Bardens, Doug Ferguson, and Andy Ward. After reaching success with their previous album, the all instrumental The Snow Goose, the band started on a follow-up and incorporated vocals and lyrics to the new music. It is the final album that featured the classic line-up Latimer, Bardens, Ferguson, Ward from the band. After the release of The Snow Goose in 1975, the band decided to move back into a more accessible direction by adding vocals to their music again. The album still has an overall theme, just as their previous one did, but doesn't follow a storyline since it's mostly based on the band members themselves. As written in the CD Booklet: Overall, the tracks comprising the album were conceived as a loose concept based on the indiv. Album 1976 7 Songs. Рок 1976. Moonmadness Tracklist. Aristillus Lyrics. Moonmadness, by Camel. 1976 was not the top year in the classic period of progressive rock, and arguably just outside of that golden era altogether. One band was an exception, still on their way up artistically and commercially in 1976. With a couple of excellent records released in the previous two years you could have expected them to peter out like many of their contemporaries, but they had one more masterpiece coming. Camels fourth LP Moonmadness closely rivals their second one Mirage: they are similar in the fact that they both feature some of the most energetic, original and awe-inspiring compositions the group ever created, and of course both appear in their classic era, which formation would be altered by the departure of bassist Doug Ferguson. Despite the obvious similarity in the overall vibe though, Moonmadness is also quite different. Mirage contained three vocal tracks, two of which were epics, woven around two instrumentals.
