Lament For Booker 27:31 Bass Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen tracks: A, B1. Tenor saxophonist Booker Ervin protested against the restrictive situation by performing the intense and stirring Blues for You for 27-minutes, tearing down the house. A decade later after Ervin's 1970 death the performance with pianist Kenny Drew, bassist Neils Pedersen and drummer Alan Dawson was released for the first time and its passion was worth waiting for. Also on this historic album is pianist Horace Parlan's somber solo tribute to Ervin Lament for Booker which was recorded in 1975. Booker Telleferro Ervin II October 31, 1930 August 31, 1970 was an American tenor saxophone player. His tenor playing was characterised by a strong, tough sound and bluesgospel phrasing. He is best known for his association with bassist Charles Mingus. Ervin was born in Denison, Texas, United States. He first learned to play trombone at a young age from his father, who played the instrument with Buddy Tate. After leaving school, Ervin joined the United States Air Force, stationed in Okinawa. He was to have recorded with Booker in Germany. There were many other emotional problems with this concert. Booker's solo clearly shows the artistry of jazz. Love this recording, it reminds me of his other album the trance, but this one sounds better. Rispondi Avvertimi Helpful. Shop Lament For Booker Ervin.
