Tour de Force is an album by Brazilian guitarist Bola Sete, released in 1963 through Fantasy Records. In 2001, Tour de Force was issued on CD coupled with Bossa Nova on a compilation titled after the former. All tracks are written by Bola Sete, except where noted. Johnny Rae drums. Bola Sete born Djalma de Andrade was a Brazilian guitarist born on July 16, 1923 in Rio de Janeiro and who died on February 14, 1987 in Greenbrae, California. Sete played jazz with Vince Guaraldi as well as with Dizzy Gillespie. His song Bettina was featured on the Tribe Vibes breakbeat compilation, as it had been sampled by the musical group A Tribe Called Quest. There's also a samba that Luiz Bonfa had a hand in writing Sambe de Orfeu, and as one of the niftier detours from the usual, a solo interpretation of J. Bach's Bourree. The 2001 CD reissue on Fantasy also includes the entirety of his late-1962 session Bossa Nova, which is an excellent midpoint between bossa nova and mainstream American jazz. 1 Release and reception.
