I vividly remember the the moment when this album hit the shelves. Or, truth be said, I remember the aftermath, when the word spread, when it hit the world wide internet, and made it onto our Traxdata CD-Rs. I was a high school freshman in Rome, Italy, and while music was frequently discussed and exchanging hands, there really was nothing that flew over our heads and made us look for too long. Basically, we knew what we liked - and could obtain - and then built a little circle around it. If memory stands correct,, the Hieroglyphics crew and the Rawkus artists appearing on the Soundbombing compilations were all the rage. I was massively into the Deltron 3030 album, and had begun a long lasting happy-consumer relationship with the awesome Del.The Rawkus guys were on fire as well, having launched Company Flow and Black Star, and about to release Mos Def and Talib Kweli's solo efforts. But we already knew that back then, and while there was a lot to look forward to, the element of mystery and surprise was faint. The biggest question was if the next Souls Of Mischief album would be that grand come back everyone thought was due, especially because everyone excluding the pope were expecting another '93 not even a decade later. Then, a friend of mine brought this in his discman during lunch break. He said you gotta hear this. Everyone listened, as he already scored a massive hit with the group by introducing us to the Last Emperor. But this was different. It could not possibly be that good, otherwise we would have already heard of it, right? Right? None of the real dopeness passes us by, as we know what is worth the listen. Only this time, no one could even hint at pretending to know anything about the content of the CD-R and the MCs behind it. To top it all off, it really was that dope, and it really landed abruptly, shattering our "we down with the real" personas. Now this album was funnier then The Arsonists on a freestyle tip when it wanted to be. It would effortlessly dive into Freestyle Fellowship lyrical depths, while celebrating the art of scratch, and then just hit you with verbal interplay displayed by the two MCs who seemed to be two separate heads driven by one mind and tongue. It was a matter of time, naturally, and all of a sudden, it was of no importance if "Trilogy: Conflict, Climax, Resolution" was the true follow-up to "93 'Til Infinity" because Binary Star simply knocked every rhyming, rapping, you name it act right out of the proverbial park. Without introduction, previous history, expectations to live up to, not a thing. This album made everyone's standards go up, and on a personal level, I can say it made me look more intensely elsewhere because this darn thing was sure hard to equal, let alone outddo.I still stand by what I thought about it back then. This album has a lovely aftertaste, a replay value only the likes of Public Enemy and Rakim can claim, a faultless flow that enables it to sit right with every new generation on the come-up. Keep in mind that most listeners giving it praise were learning to walk when Binary Star initially hit the market. Yet the universal words of praise basically echo ours from over fifteen years ago. There is a unique blend of timeless approachability that shines through not due to overzealous media coverage, groundbreaking musicality.Binary Star honors the culture of hip-hop by excelling at it on every level. The beauty of it is that they pulled it off with such sheer confidence and smoothness, that even with two decades on its back, none have questioned its status, and time's merciless age crusade has yet to put a wrinkle on its face...

does your copy only list through "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings"? my record player is still packed from a recent move so I won't be able to play it immediately, I want to make sure it's got all the songs!

Purebinder
Yeah. All the songs play, but the labels are way off on the records. I guess that makes it the original copy.
