His output during the '70s was inconsistent, but he did record two fusion classics, Spectrum and Crosswinds, which are both well represented here. The album was heavily influenced by the music of Miles Davis, with whom Cobham had previously collaborated extensively, and Cobham's previous band Mahavishnu Orchestra.
