American saxophonist and clarinetist Bennie Maupin came to prominence in the 1960s as one of the most distinctive new voices in jazz. After working with jazz greats including Roy Haynes, Horace Silver and Jack DeJohnette, in 1969 Miles Davis invited Maupin to participate in the sessions for Bitches Brew.
