Shark are an American post-hardcore band from Highland, Michigan. They were founded in 2001 and disbanded in 2005 after releasing one EP and two full-length studio albums while signed to Equal Vision Records. The band later reunited for some shows in 2016. The members of the group have known each other all their lives with some members forming friendships as early as pre-school. The band actually formed during their college years when the members were playing in separate projects. The group's. Equal Vision. Terrorhawk starts off totally beefcake with Catamaran. Galloping, muted chords with a little hitch for texture leap out first, but there are some delicate harmonics chiming behind them. The vocals and drums fall into step for a moment, but it's like they just can't friggin' wait to let loose, and soon the song's careening like it was launched from a catapult. 5, 6 Kids changes the tone right away- with a tortured lead and ragged vocals, it's like an iron maul dragging on an iron floor, heavy and sparking. Shark had a way of combining indie-pop guitar riffs with lots of screaming thrown in the mix. It made the music sound harsh, yet poetic in the way it sounded happy and angry at the same time. The only way to decipher the meaning of the song would be to look at the lyrics good luck listening to them. The sound isnt all I find attractive though. Terrorhawk is the bands second, and last album. It captures some really heavy moments, and at times can be perceived as progressive.
