Johann Sebastian Bach. Biggs donated this magnificent Flentrop Organ to Harvard University Adolphus Busch Hall in 1958. Biggs plays it for all it's worth. I first heard the beautiful analog version in 1975. The rushing, angry Toccata from the famous Toccata and Fugue in D minor is accented by his use of the reed stops on the organ, while the fugue comes vividly to life, full of exhuberance beneath Biggs' hands and feet. The organ itself is a magnificent instrument, full of expressive and dramatic potential. Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor BWV 582 is an organ piece by Johann Sebastian Bach. Presumably composed early in Bach's career, it is one of his most important and well-known works, and an important influence on 19th and 20th century passacaglias: Robert Schumann described the variations of the passacaglia as intertwined so ingeniously that one can never cease to be amazed.
