Альбом 2012 Песен: 6. After a seven year hiatus, Athens, Georgia dreamweavers Azure Ray returned to the blissful folk-pop of their earliest material with comeback album Drawing Down the Moon. The duo of Orenda Fink and Maria Taylor built much of their sound on gorgeously blended harmonies, but the instrumentation of acoustic instruments flirting with subtle electronic undertones added texture and mystery to their indie folk landscapes. As Above So Below tells a pretty basic love story, but soaks everything in dreams though calling Azure Ray dreamy this far into their career is borderline cliché. Taylors whispered vocals swim in reverb, dripping with pathos, eventually joined by Orenda Finks equally effervescent harmonies. As if to further detach from reality, acoustic instruments that accompanied electronic backing tracks on earlier successes are dropped from the mix. Fink admits that she was influenced by artists like James Blake, and husband Todd Fink of The Faint helped the duo hone their sound. I never would have thought Azure Ray would make an electronica album, or that it would be so mind-blowingly good if they did. But this is truly astounding. It's trip-hop, really. It almost sounds like Massive Attack or Tricky. So good Probably my favorite Azure Ray release to date Read more. 2 people found this helpful
