Heart in Motion is the eighth studio album, and twelfth album overall by Christian pop singer Amy Grant, released on March 5, 1991. The album features Grant's biggest worldwide hit, Baby Baby and was certified 5 platinum in the United States, selling over five million copies. In contrast to its predecessor, the more acoustic Lead Me On, Heart in Motion consists of songs that were more heavily processed, as was the style of mainstream music at the time. In addition, unlike Lead Me On, Heart in. Heart in Motion is the 1991 album that broke Amy Grant into the mainstream pop-music charts, yielding five top 20 singles and two No. 1 hits Baby Baby and Every Heartbeat. But while the release is filled with upbeat beboppin' singles, it also displays a more serious side and a depth of songwriting ability from Christian music's first lady. She has always resisted the temptation to exactly fulfill the expectations of a Christian music market which tends to prefer the safe, the jargonistic, and the predictable. Rather, she has continually pushed the boundaries of Christian artistry outward. In that regard her 12th album, Heart in Motion, does not disappoint. In the late '70s and early 80s, Amy Grant enjoyed little exposure outside of Christian circles. But that started to change in the mid-'80s, when A&M promoted her aggressively in the secular market.
