The band was founded by vocalist Colin H. van Eeckhout, lead guitarist Mathieu Vandekerckhove and bassist Kristof Mondy. The three had been in the hardcore punk band Spineless that split up in 1999 and wanted to create music with more heart and soul. The group released their debut studio album Mass I in 2003. Around the release of Mass III in 2005, Amenra founded a collective of like-minded artists named Church of Ra. Church of Ra collaborates with Amenra on art and performances. AMENRA provided old and new music and sounds to this piece. The release of a split vinyl release has just been announced on Consouling Sounds. We will be teaming up with our Belgian friends Raketkanon aswel as Belgian painter Michael Borremans Release date to be announced soon. We are only playing a limited amount of festivals this summer, being Ressurection fest in Spain, and Motocultor festival in France. June 25th we will be participating in the 'Vinyl Frontier' art exhibition at Fort Napoleon in Ostend BE. Syndrome, the moniker of Mathieu Vandekerckhoves Amenra, Kingdom, Sembler Deah carefully crafted soundscapes, contributes yet another outstanding addition to his already impressive body of work. Gentle progressions, modest melodies and minimal orchestration amount to Syndromes very own massive sound, constantly trespassing post-rock, drone, ambient, and doom territories.
