Last American Hero was inspired by Ferraro's experiences of living in a kind of insane gated community for senior citizens where his grandparents resided in Florida. He recalled feeling like he was in a weird science experiment of consumerism in the community, which consisted of large flat-screen TVs, and insane Ikea couches that you cant even. The Last American Hero' is the second time Jeff Bridges has acted in a role with the surname Jackson, in this instance as Elroy Jackson Jr. In 'The Last Picture Show' Jeff Bridges was Duane Jackson, the first time he has played a character with the surname Jackson. It should definitely be considered an American classic. The movie is a docu-drama based on the few years in the life of Junior Johnson, a famous stock car racer.
