I'm Still in Love with You is the fifth studio album by the American gospel and soul singer Al Green, released on October 23, 1972, on Hi Records. Recording sessions took place during 1972. The album was produced solely by Willie Mitchell. The album peaked at number four on the US Billboard 200 and number one on the US Top R&BHip-Hop Albums and produced four singles: Love and Happiness which was rated ninety-eight on Rolling Stones's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time as well as I'm Still in Love with. Classic Soul Album Series Al Green - I'm Still in love with you. Green began exploring country music with this album by performing a startling version of Kris Kristofferson's For the Good Times, as well as a wonderful, slow reinterpretation of Roy Orbison's Oh Pretty Woman. Being here with youbeing near with youCant explain myself. Throughout, Willie Mitchells production work is as consistently strong as Greens vocals. Its never trite, never obtrusive - none of those wedges of unrelieved production something quite different from music you find driven into so many other albums - and always several steps ahead. To me, it just sounds like a great Al Green album with a funky early 1970s stereo mix - the kind where some of the instruments are on one channel only, and others on the other channel, with only the most important things audible on both tracks. The 1972 follow-up to Let's Stay Together, I'm Still In Love With You loses some of the chunky-chugga-chugga sound of the 1971 record, presenting a slightly sweeter, more personal sound, and still has the thick groove I love about Al Green's music. 1972 is Al Greens year and he seemed to snatch it up almost effortlessly. With one hit single after another, all of them turning into a neat stack of gold if not platinum records, Green hardly lost his place on the charts, always seemed to have two or three slots on the jukebox, and now has his second album of the year. All this would be of only passing interest if Al Green werent so good, so very good. This has been refined with each new album to the point where it becomes, in Im Still in Love with You, less a style than a stylization
