This is the sexiest record I've heard all year. Lead singer Juliette Beavan is a stunning beauty, and her beautiful voice rivals Beth Gibbons at times on this debut EP. Co-founder Sean Beavan, who has worked with bands such as Kill Hannah, Nine Inch Nails, and No Doubt, has sculpted an innovative set of soundscapes that brings together the slick and mysterious feeling that the disc gives off.

The title track is a slice of perfection that is worth the price of admission alone. The other songs are also quite exceptional. "Nothing Left To Lose" even features rap from artists Ryan Breen and Mike Busse. Although it is my least favorite track, they still pull it off with well-thought-out lyrics, something you won't find often in that genre.

"Save Yourself" showcases the band's more poppy side successfully, "Never Enough" is full of intensity, and "Crawl" is an eerie spoken word track that has a brilliant solo towards the end. Sure, it is unfortunate that trip-hop idols Portishead are lazy and haven't released an album in a good seven years, but there are plenty of excellent bands picking up the pieces in their wake. 8mm is definitely one of them.
